Adult Ministry Opportunities abound at First Presbyterian Church. Our mission is to encourage men and women of all ages to live courageously for Christ, supporting and uplifting each other through prayer, education, and fellowship. Please join us!
The Season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14 (also Valentines Day). During Lent, our special emphasis for the Sunday messages will be inspired by the best seller, The Purpose Driven Life, author Pastor Rick Warren. The book was originally published in 2002 and was revised in 2012.
As a congregation First Presbyterian was first introduced to The Purpose Driven Life back in 2004. Some of you were at FPC then, but many were not. PDL has sold 50 million copies world-wide, is biblically based, and very practical as we follow Christ and seek to grow in his image. PDL asks each of us a very important question: “What on earth am I here for?”
PDL is a 40 Day Spiritual journey (42 in the revised version) which makes it perfect for the 40 days of Lent leading up to Easter. PDL is designed as a daily devotional book. Each chapter is 4-8 pages in length. I will introduce each section of the book during the Sunday message beginning February 11 through the week of March 24 which is Holy Week.
To order your book and express interest in a small group, please call or email Secretary Janie Emerson (317) 773-2383, firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, let her know what days and times you would be available. You can also sign up and order your book at the Welcome Desk on Sunday mornings. Book price will be approximately $15.00. If you have an old version of PDL, purchasing a new copy may be helpful but not required.

“Final Words”, a study of Jesus’ seven phrases spoken from the cross.
In life and in death, Jesus’ words were powerful and meaningful. Despite the serious effort and increased pain required for Jesus to speak as he hung on the cross, Jesus spoke seven "final words"—statements that have much to teach us about Jesus, his Father, and ourselves. Join Kay and Lamar Ziegler as they explore this amazing book together at 9:00 am on Sunday mornings before church service.
